PALS DOG PARK Closing

Attention PALS Dog Park Members and General Public:

After four years of operation, PALS Board of Directors regretfully announces that public access to PALS Dog Park will cease permanently, effective 31st December 2021.

The basis for this decision is driven by operating costs. Our annual premium for property liability insurance coverage alone is $2500, representing an additional expense above and beyond our normal insurance costs. This is required coverage simply to permit unsupervised public access to our park. Recent drought conditions, derechos, and the absence of volunteer resources represents another $1000+ of annual expenses for park maintenance and upkeep. For the past three years, park membership proceeds have roughly covered only 30% of annual park operating expenses.PALS operates on an extremely tight budget.

Our primary mission is to provide care and find permanent homes for lost and unwanted animals. Our staff and volunteer efforts are focused on fulfilling that goal. As an organization, we can no longer justify the expense of providing a public park facility and are compelled to apply our monies toward satisfying our mission of animal care.

Individuals with a current dog park membership extending beyond 12/31/21 may request a refund for the remaining balance of their membership. Please submit your request via email to palspetsia@gmail.com by January 31, 2022. After February 1, 2022, any unclaimed membership monies will be considered a donation to PALS.

Regards,
PALS Board of Directors
